Paul Williams DJ collaborates with International Photographer Richie Crossley
Having decided to update my website, I was looking for a professional photographer that specialised in DJ Press shots.
What is a DJ Press shot you may ask?
So, after engaging with a number of specialists in DJ Photography, it became apparent that I was going to have to travel either to London or York to get this portfolio prepared so I decided to look for local photographers that could possibly help create the same kind of look that I wanted.I trawled through social media and came across Richie Crossley’s work via a friend on Instagram who has worked with Richie on a number of occasions for her hair modelling shots in South Wales & London. I dropped Jade a quick message and she highly recommended Richie so I sent a brief email and awaited a response.Richie responded overnight and invited me into his studio that day, Chic Studio on High St, Swansea.
From the moment I entered the studio, Richie made me feel welcome. We built up an instant rapport during the free consultation and after some great discussion, we agreed the date and fee and scheduled the shoot. Richie asked me to prepare some examples of the looks I liked and suggested that I keep an open mind for the shoot as he also had some ideas of what could work well for my image.
Richie Crossley Background
Richie’s photographic career has allowed him many opportunities worldwide and to date he has undertaken commissions in: London, New York, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt, Monte Carlo, Spain, the French Caribbean, several North African countries and Mumbles in Swansea – where he now resides and runs chicproduction.com with his partner/model Maria. Of his success Richie says: “Although I have studied photography and printing, I am very much a self-taught photographer and have always been hands-on – no matter how big or small the job is. Becoming a photographer was the best thing that ever happened to me – not only for the experimental elements but also for the challenges that this medium presents. In simple terms, I do what I love and love what I do.”
I returned to the studio a few days later, armed with a number of outfit changes…my signature Giorgio Armani sunglasses and as Richie requested; an open mind. We began to take a number of test shots to get the lighting correct and I began to pose in true Madonna (Vogue) style. Richie made the shoot fun throughout and we even managed to re-create a nightclub scene in his studio, complete with Pioneer DJ equipment and mood lighting.
After around 3 hours and around 400 shots later we began shortlisting the best images for my portfolio. Richie sent me the online folder a few days after the shoot and let me choose the final shots for editing. I can honestly say, the work Richie has done has been nothing short of excellence, I am no Tom Cruise and generally hate photos, but I am very pleased with the end result and would highly recommend any DJ or Musician to contact Richie for their Press Shot requirements.
What has happened since my shoot with Richie?
Since working with Richie, I have had lots of positive feedback on my new website, the images in particular and have just landed my dream job as a host on Radio Marbella.
Tune in to my NEW Show, Deep Essence every Saturday night at 6pm (7pm CET)
